A Gardener for God: Let Love Bloom

God freely gives us the gift of his magnificent love every day, hoping that we will drink from his eternal well so that we may be filled with true joy, passion and contentment. Spring is the perfect time to bask in the warmth of God’s love for you and use this joyous feeling to love God in return by loving others.
When we focus on the love that God feels for us and the loving sacrifice that Jesus made for us, it empowers and energizes us to fulfill his two greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind,” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.”  These commandments, recorded in Matthew 22:37-39, tell us that God hopes we’ll love him with every ounce of our being and to use our lives to plant seeds of love, so as to be good “kingdom gardeners.” Again, spring is the perfect time to remind ourselves that we should help love bloom—within our own hearts and the hearts of others. When we spread the eternal seeds of his love, we glorify our Heavenly Father. We help to cultivate an eternal garden of love that is more beautiful than the most gorgeous earthly garden.
As the new season approaches, find new ways to sow seeds of love in your life and the lives of others around you—express love and appreciation to your spouse, your children, family members, neighbors and the people that God has placed in your life. Be creative, mimicking the creativity that God uses to design each of his flowers. Be colorful, expressive, juicy, fragrant and delightful. Offer help to neighbors, reach out to loved ones, do a kind deed, smile at a stranger, spend one-on-one time playing your child’s favorite game, write a love note to your spouse or do a chore for them. Nothing brightens a person’s day like a surprising expression or act of love.
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” (Phillipians 4:8 NIV).
Spring is a time to let love bloom. It’s a time to remind ourselves that we are here to be God’s gardeners, sowing the seeds of love for his kingdom.
